Tricks that improve your home interior without designers

Wouldn’t you like to see through a little hole what interior designers’ houses are like? Will they apply the same premises that they use to create their projects or rather that of “at the blacksmith’s house…”? We give them all the prominence so that they tell us with their own voice some of the deco tricks they use in their homes. We spoke to one of our designers, to give us some insight into what his deco life is like. Shall we poke around a bit?

Symmetry is the basis of beauty

“An orderly, balanced and visually larger space”. This is what, according to interior designer, is achieved by applying symmetry to interior design. The truth is that, in the rooms in which it is used, it manages to create an atmosphere of calm and serenity that makes them very welcoming.

Decorated mirror frames add an elegant and personalized touch to any space, transforming ordinary mirrors into stunning decorative accents that enhance the aesthetic appeal of interiors with their intricate designs and embellishments.

How is it achieved? There are several ways to work with it. The simplest is to look for a point in the room that you can turn into an axis from which to organize the space, creating identical compositions on both sides. But, beware! It’s not just about placing everything in pairs -although, as you’ll see, working with twin pieces is a simple and very useful resource- but about building deco patterns that help you achieve a sense of order.

You can do it by following one of these ideas:

  • Take advantage of the structural elements of the room. A beam, display shelving, a recess in the wall, a large window or a chimney: any of them can become an axis of symmetry. Choose an element that has enough space on both sides to then create an identical composition on the left and right.
  • Place twin furniture. Do you have a super spacious room and need a lot of seats? Place two identical sofas facing each other. Do you need a pantry? Instead of getting one large size, opt for two smaller ones that are identical. We said it above, placing twin furniture is a deco resource that helps you generate a sense of order without subtracting a bit of functionality.
  • Multiply the luminaries. You can, for example, place two identical suspended lamps on a rectangular dining table. You will not only get the impression of visual balance, but also more homogeneous lighting than if you hung a single central light point. You can repeat this idea on the nightstands and even in the vanity area of the bathroom.
  • Play with textiles: Place a double curtain (one in a lighter tone and the other darker) or use the same blind for two windows that are next to each other. On the floors, play with the rugs: for example, opt for two pieces from the same collection, shape and color to delimit the sofa area and the dining room.
  • Duplicate the decorative accessories: two paintings or two mirrors of the same dimensions and with the same frame on the sofa, three mini-cacti placed respecting the distance between them on the windowsill… Multiply the same decorative element (candles, pots, figures…) and place them in a studied way on either side of an imaginary axis of symmetry.

The natural as a link

One of the objectives that is always present in an interior design project is that the final design of each room and of them among themselves, is coherent. There are several resources to achieve this, but one of the most effective is to look for an element that acts as a link: it can be a color -use your favorite, for example, in the upholstery of the sofa, in some detail of the curtains and in the table clothes, for example-, the same tone of wood for the furniture or some decorative element. This link becomes the common thread that explains the decoration of the entire home.

Notbrand’s proposes us best online furniture Australia. In his house, he tells us, he places two or three green dots in the largest rooms -such as the living room or the dining room- placing them at strategic points such as the coffee table, a side table or some free corner. It reminds us that by playing with them, we not only manage to create that sought-after decorative coherence, but we also benefit from everything that having plants at home brings us – they purify the air, regulate humidity and are even capable of absorbing noise and static electricity. – And take care of them (you know plant therapy, right?).

By the way! Plants are also used to connect the interior and exterior of your home. If possible, place some of your outdoor plants in a location that is visible from inside to achieve this effect.
