What should you expect from the IPL in 2023?

The Indian Premier League 2023 will bring back enjoyment at home thanks to the tournament’s home-and-away structure. The IPL 2023 season will have 74 matches amongst the ten teams that will compete. IPL 2023 auction

For the IPL 2023 Player Auction in Kochi, Kerala, a total of 80 players were auctioned, with the ten clubs collectively spending INR 1,67,00,00,000. The auction was dominated to a significant part by all-rounders, who were in high demand. Sam Curran, an English all-rounder who was the talk of the town even before his name was put up for auction, broke a record and set a new one to become the most expensive player in IPL auction history.

The all-around talent announced his comeback to the Punjab Kings with the highest offer of INR 18.50 Crore. Ben Stokes and Cameron Green both made a lot of money after being bought by the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians for INR 16.25 crore and 17.5 crores, respectively.

Mayank Agarwal joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 8.25 crore, joining English batsman Harry Brook, who also had a successful auction day. When the defending champion Gujarat Titans paid INR 6 crores for Shivam Mavi’s services, he became the most expensive player.

About the IPL 2023 Impact Player Rule

The Impact Player, a bat-and-bowl substitute, will make his IPL debut in 2023. However, the league has specified that the Impact Player must be an Indian unless a team’s starting XI has no more than four international players.

This will add a new tactical and strategic dimension to the game. Tactical replacements are permitted in several team sports, including football, rugby, basketball, and baseball. The substitute may perform or participate in activities in the same manner as a regular player. The bowling team’s Impact Player will be allowed to bowl their whole four-over allocation, regardless of how many overs the player they are replacing has bowled. Consider the following scenario: a team with a powerplay specialist bowls them out at the start of the inning.

If a club has four foreign players in its starting lineup, it may deploy an Indian as the Impact Player. This is to uphold the IPL’s long-standing regulation that each team can only deploy four international players every game. If a team’s starting lineup contains three or fewer foreign players, it may substitute an international player as the Impact Player. The new foreign player, on the other hand, should be one of the four substitutes declared before the coin toss.
